The manual presents methods for capturing and treatment of small mammals, helminthological dissection techniques, tips on helminth fixation and storage, sample staining, and preparation of permanent and temporary mounts. Indices most successfully used in parasitology to analyse the species diversity of helminths are described. Information about the morphology of major groups of parasitic worms, and the checklist of helminths recorded from Micromammalia in East Fennoscandia are provided. The helminth fauna of the investigated small mammal species is analysed.
The manual is meant for graduate and post-graduate students majoring in parasitology, for veterinary staff, zoologists, as well as for university professors and teachers of biology.
