Core facility

Core Facility of the Karelian Research Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences was founded (by KarRC RAS order #11 of 30.01.2020) by merging together Core Facilities established previously by individual KarRC RAS institutes.
Core Facility (CF) focuses on the following areas of activity:
– “Biological studies of living systems in the North” (Institute of Biology KarRC RAS);
– “Hydrochemical, hydro-geochemical studies, geochemical studies of bottom sediments” (Northern Water Problems Institute KarRC RAS);
– “Physicochemical studies of rocks and minerals” (Institute of Geology KarRC RAS);
– “Physicochemical methods for studying forest ecosystems” (Forest Research Institute KarRC RAS);
– “High-performance data processing center” (Institute of Applied Mathematical Research KarRC RAS).

By virtue of its functional characteristics and the tasks it fulfills, KarRC RAS CF is a center providing infrastructural support to research programs and projects, including interdisciplinary ones, related to national priority areas of basic and applied research, to implementation of the Strategy for scientific and technological development of the Russian Federation, and to hi-tech sectors of the economy by means of producing knowledge-intensive innovative technologies.
The principal objective of CF activities is to promote the quality and efficiency of basic and applied research, including interdisciplinary studies, implemented by structural units of KarRC RAS, organizations under the Ministry of Science and Higher Education Russia, other interested legal entities and natural persons.

2. Hydrochemical, hydro-geochemical studies, geochemical studies of bottom sediments (person-in-charge M.B. Zobkov);
2. Physicochemical methods for studying forest ecosystems (person-in-charge N.A. Galibina);
4. Biological studies of living systems in the North (person-in-charge O.V. Meshcheryakova);
5. High-performance data processing center (person-in-charge A.N. Rettieva).
